It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Richard Allen Thompson Jr. of Southern Pines, North Carolina, who passed away on September 30, 2025, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
In the sacred silence of farewell, Richard is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that his light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of his loved ones. And as his memory is carried forward, may comfort be found in the knowledge that love is eternal, and that Richard's spirit lives on in the beauty that surrounds us.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. Richard A. Thompson and Mary Thompson (Young). He is survived by: his wife Anne; and his children, Susan Laver, Linda Grosvenor and Richard Thompson III. He is also survived by three grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 19th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Pine Needles Lodge 1005 (1005 Midland Rd, Southern Pines, NC 28387).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Walthour-Moss Foundation of Southern Pines.
