He is survived by: his sons, Dr. Randal Benefield (Margo) of Raleigh, NC and Greg Benefield (Susan) of Southern Pines, NC.; his grandchildren, Jon Benefield, Emily Meznar (Michael) and Matthew Benefield; and his wife Joyce Clair of Cuyahoga Falls.
