He was predeceased by : his parents, Robert Henry and Alice Watkins Phillips. He is survived by : his brother Donald Phillips; his wife Linda; his son Todd McLean (Christine); his grandson Kevin McLean; his siblings, Ruth Stamey (Joel), Gail Meeks (Hal) and Leon Phillips (Gwen); and his sister-in-law Jewelene Phillips. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 10th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Glendon Christian Church (148 Glendon Church Rd, Glendon, NC 27325). A memorial service was held on Wednesday, April 10th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Glendon Independent Christian Church (148 Glendon Church Rd, Glendon, NC 27325).
