Michael Canu Obituary

We announce the death of Michael Canu of Southport, North Carolina, who passed away on August 2, 2026, at the age of 83. Michael will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, John Canu and Elizabeth Canu; his wife Maryann Ellen Canu; his son-in-law Anthony Secone; and his pets, Walter and Hachi.

He is survived by: his children, Christine Secone, Jennifer Dokish (Chris), Elizabeth Simmons (Fred), Cathy Canu and Michael Canu Jr. (Shannon); his grandchildren, Melissa Leonor (RJ), Michael A. Canu, Chyanne Secone and Cayla Secone; and his great grandchildren, Kayden, Caleb, Riley, Aurora and Addison.
