He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Reynolds Hunter and Anna Allene Jones Hunter; and his siblings, Wanda Joyce Hunter, Cheryl Ann Hunter and Danny Lee Hunter.
He is survived by: his wife Amy Hunter; his children, Robert Hunter (Allen), Rachel Hunter Emrath and Sarah Hunter Hastings; his grandchildren, Archer, Georgia, Lillie Mae, Lydia, Mallory, Silas and Willow; his brother Thomas S. Hunter; his sister-in-law Lisa Corp Hunter; and his sister Linda Susan Hunter.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 26th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Peacock - Newnam & White Funeral Home Chapel (1411 N Howe St, Southport, NC 28461).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Bolduc's Animal Rescue via their Facebook page or another animal charity, in honor of Gene's love of animals.
