He was predeceased by : his parents, John R. Kennedy, Sr. and Eula Fowlkes Kennedy; his wife Jo Ann Black Kennedy; his daughter Vivian Kennedy Campbell; and his sisters, Norma Jean Maines, Pauline Whitely, Lavonne Absher and Wilma Mason.

He is survived by : his son Larry Kennedy (Cynthia) of Potomac Falls, VA; his grandchildren, Eric Campbell (Michelle) of Mocksville, Brittany Wade (Mike) of Greensboro and Lacey Kennedy of Potomac Falls, VA; his great grandchildren, Eric, Raegan Campbell, Marlie and Zoey Wade; and his siblings, Elaine Rector (Raymond) of Sparta, Reba Osborne of Piney Creek and Terry Kennedy (Mary) of Sparta. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
