She was predeceased by : her father Curtis Monroe; her husband Dean Mitchell Pruitt; her daughter Irene Pruitt; and her brothers, Reeves Brooks, Edwin Brooks and Cecil Brooks.

She is survived by : her children, Mildred Jones (Chris) of Sparta, Dale Pruitt (Nancy) of Pleasant Garden, Harold Pruitt (Carollyn) of Sparta and Roger Pruitt of Spruce Pine; and her siblings, Lois Edwards of Sparta, Treva Bridges of Matthews, J. D. Brooks of Laurel Springs and Wade Brooks of Katy, TX. She is also survived by six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, six great great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
