We announce the death of Robert Wayne Overbay (Sparta, North Carolina), who passed away on October 19, 2026, at the age of 83. Robert will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Grady Overbay and Mary Lou Hash Overbay; his grandparents, Steve and Marie Hash; his brother-in-law Russell; and his parents-in-law, Kyle and Jean Reeves.
He is survived by: his wife Lois Overbay; his daughter Scarlett Inman (Michael) of Mooresville; his granddaughters, Reagan Inman of Mooresville and Melanie Inman of Mooresville; his siblings, Phyllis Brinegar (David) of Sparta, Lawrence Overbay (Barbara) of Littleton and Roy Overbay (Patricia) of Sparta; and his sisters-in-law, Lenna Evans of Ennice, Kim Weaver (John) of West Jefferson and Judy Reeves. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Grandview Memorial Funeral Home (789 Grandview Dr, Sparta, NC 28675). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the same location.
