He was predeceased by: his parents, Lane Simpson and Emma Simpson of Speed, NC.; his sisters, Mary Jo Johnson and Sally Baker; and his sister-in-law Sylvia Simpson.
He is survived by: his wife Beverly; his children, Kristin Simpson, Kaitlin Cobb (Danny) and Thomas Simpson (Kim); his siblings, Lane Simpson Jr., Robert Simpson (Donna), Estelle Jones (James) and Wanda Holloman (Bobby); his brothers-in-law, Sam Johnson and Wayne Baker; his aunt Artie Hamm; and his grandchildren, Elena, Lydia Simpson, Lily Prince and Bayleigh Cobb. He is also survived by his family and friends.
