He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Melvin Baynard and Margaret Burnett Baynard; and his brother Ray Hugh Baynard, Sr.. He is survived by: his wife Janice Hammett Baynard; his daughters, Kelly Wilkerson of Forest City and Brooke Gulley (Ired) of Greensboro; his sister Charlotte Baynard of Forest City; and his grandchildren, Noah Wilkerson, Jude Wilkerson, Hud Gulley and Olive Gulley.
