Elsie Sledge Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Elsie Sledge (Spring Hope, North Carolina), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on April 5, 2026 at the age of 91. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Samuel "Ernest" Gardner and Katherine "Katie" Joyner Gardner; her husband Paul Sledge, Jr.; and her son-in-law Howard Gillis. She is survived by: her children, Thomas Ray Sledge (Debra), Carolyn Gillis and Brenda Hoyle (Richard); her brothers, Roy, Troy (Grace) and Larry (Sharon); and her grandchildren, Nicki Stoner (Bert), Steven Bryant (Lezlie), Jonathan Hoyle (Heather), Katherine Hoyle and Lori Duke (David). She is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Flowers are welcome, or memorials contributions may be made to Holly Grove Baptist Church, 1640 Holly Road, Spring Hope, North Carolina 27882, in memory of Elsie Sledge.
