She was predeceased by: her parents, Miles Rudyard Young and Lois Victoria Wood; and her sisters, Joyce Owen, Jeanette Miller and Shirley Hodgdon.
She is survived by: her husband Earl Richard Gassaway; and her stepchildren, Richard Gassaway, Keith Gassaway, Mitchell Gassaway and Dana Gassaway Cail. She is also survived by seven great-nieces, eight great-nephews, five great-great nieces, and eight great-great nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory directly to Person Street United Methodist Church, 509 Person St, Fayetteville, NC 28301.
