He is survived by: his wife Patricia Reeves Hefner; his children, Terri Scott (Wayne) of Spruce Pine and Chip Hefner (Jennifer) of Ocala, Fla.; his grandchildren, Andrew Scott, Avery, Marybeth and Katie Hefner; and his siblings, Norma Duncan and Winston Hefner. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, they request that donations be made to Hospice of Mitchell County.
