It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Darrell Buchanan (Spruce Pine, North Carolina), who passed away on October 31, 2025, at the age of 74, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Lonnie Buchanan and Evelynn Ledford Buchanan; his wife Penny Pitman Buchanan; and his brother Mike Stamey. He is survived by: his son Travis Buchanan (Pam) of Coxes Creek; his grandson Trevor; his siblings, Rita Phillips (Mike) of Ridge Road, Pat Fisher and Jim Buchanan (Vonnie); his uncle Wayne Ledford of Little Switzerland; his aunt Kathy Ledford; his sisters-in-law, Donna Phillips (Randy) of Franklintown Road and Melissa Ellen Pitman of Newland; and his siblings' children, Mark Fisher, Brandy Phillips, Tracy Thomas and Shelly Burse.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 6th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church (12021 S US Hwy 19E, Spruce Pine, NC 28777). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 6th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
