He was predeceased by: his parents, Holden Buchanan and Dolly Buchanan; his son Scott Buchanan; his siblings, James Buchanan, Clarence Buchanan, Margaret Buchanan, Joe Buchanan and Bobby Buchanan; and his sister-in-law Doris Sparks.
He is survived by: his spouse Fran Buchanan; his son Brian Buchanan; his sisters, Kathryn Pate, Polly Burleson and Judy Murphy; and his sister-in-law Judy Broadway.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 24th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Webb Funeral Home (128 Roan Rd, Spruce Pine, NC 28777). A graveside service was held on Thursday, September 25th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Wilson-Young Cemetery.
