With sadness, we share the passing of Gladys Atkins Rathbone of Spruce Pine, North Carolina. Gladys, born on March 19, 1943, passed away on August 10, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Welzie Atkins and Lucy Gardner Atkins; and her husband David R. Rathbone. She is survived by: her children, David Rathbone (Barbara), Rev. Ronnie Rathbone (Deena) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Rev. Mike Rathbone (Michelle) of Spruce Pine, Rev. Chris Rathbone (Michelle) of Bakersville, Kim McFalls of Spruce Pine and Angel Miller of Spruce Pine; and her brother Clarence Atkins (Glenda). She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
