He is survived by: his wife Betty; his sons, Tim Smith (Freda) of Canton, David Smith (Melanie) of Carlton, GA, Van Smith (Kim) of Fairview and Dale Smith (Crystal) of Hendersonville; and his sister Linda Ledford of Spruce Pine. He is also survived by nieces and nephews and other extended family.
