He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Buchanan and Florence Thomas Buchanan; his sisters, Rebecca Ann Fox and Sheila Morris; and his sisters-in-law, Gail and Nadine Buchanan.
He is survived by: his wife Geraldine McCurry Buchanan; his children, Travis Buchanan (Cheryl) of Statesville and Jennifer Garland (Rodney) of Bakersville; his grandchildren, Katrina Andert (Evan) of Charlotte, Jacob Buchanan of New Jersey, Jared Buchanan (Elizabeth) of Statesville, Chase Garland (Maddie) of Bakersville and Colby Garland of Bakersville; his great grandchildren, Jack, Jordan Andert and Finnley Buchanan; and his brothers, Ronald Dean Buchanan of Morganton, Larry Buchanan of Morganton, Gary Buchanan (Mary) of Morganton, Jimmy Buchanan (Anita) of Old Fort, Kermit Buchanan (Lois) of Marion, Kenny Buchanan (Trish) of Marion and Michael Buchanan (Brenda) of Arizona.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 22nd 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Yancey Funeral Services (378 Charlie Brown Rd, Burnsville, NC 28714). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 23rd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Crabtree Baptist Church (120 Cane Branch Rd, Burnsville, NC 28714). A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 23rd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Crabtree Baptist Church Cemetery (120 Cane Branch Rd, Burnsville, NC 28714).
