Kate Pate Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Kate Pate (Spruce Pine, North Carolina), who passed away on October 9, 2025 at the age of 97. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Ward Beecher and Nellie Masters Griffith; her sons, Gregory Ward Ledford and Randall Delane Ledford; her husbands, Buster B. Ledford and Eston L. Pate; her siblings, Eugene Griffith and Joyce Griffith Tipton; her nieces, Sondra Griffith Hensley and Sharon Griffith Tittle; her grandson-in-law Robert Moyle; her daughter-in-law Wanda Gouge Ledford (Randall); her granddaughters, Jennifer Ledford Bentley (Rob) and Janet Ledford Moyle; her great grandchildren, Alexander, Sebastian, Zachary Bentley, Katelyn and Brayden Moyle; and her siblings' children, Steve Tipton, Dwight Griffith and Leslee Griffith Reuning.
She is survived by: her stepsons, Phillip R. Pate (Brenda) and Steve Pate (Becky); and her stepgrandchildren, Sherry Pate Tipton (Dean), Luke Pate (Jerica), Brittany Pate McKinney (Jody) and Kristy Pate Brown (Anthony). She is also survived by 12 step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 12th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Church of the Brethren (6243 NC-197, Bakersville, NC 28740). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 12th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
