He was predeceased by: his parents, Rex Sparks and Betty Davenport Sparks; and his sister Christie Sparks Byrd. He is survived by: his wife Sherry Hopson Sparks; his children, Adam Sparks (Christie) of Statesville and Anna Crouch (Tyler) of Charlotte; and his grandchildren, Peyton Hopson, Addison Hopson and Bennett Crouch.

Visitation was held on Thursday, July 10th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Webb Funeral Home (128 Roan Rd, Spruce Pine, NC 28777). A funeral service was held on Thursday, July 10th 2025 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the same location.
