Ruth Elizabeth Caviness Smith Obituary
We are sad to announce that on October 1, 2025, at the age of 94, Ruth Elizabeth Caviness Smith of Staley, North Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Ed Zimmerman and Rolela May Haithcox Caviness; her husband Elbridge "Smitty" Smith; her great grandchildren, Malik Herbert and Alexis Herbert; and her siblings, Armp Caviness, Frank "Doc" Caviness, Howard Caviness, Edgar Caviness, Ola Stevens, Edith Smith and Leora Smith.
She is survived by: her children, Brenda Richardson (Charles), Bobby Johnson (Teresa) and Charley Johnson; her grandchildren, Kristen Johnson, Jamie Hiatt, Devin Johnson, Eric Johnson, Adam Johnson and Joann Smith; her great grandchildren, Mikayla Hiatt, Jasmine Hiatt, Glenn "Bubba" Hiatt, Harper Johnson, Elliot Johnson, Kash Johnson and Isla Johnson; her great great grandchild Zayden Willard; her adoptive daughter Rachel Greene; her daughter-in-law Margaret Johnson; and her pet Baby.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 4th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church (7103 Sandy Creek Church Rd, Staley, NC 27355). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 4th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
