He was predeceased by : his father James Robert Melton; his wife Carol Melton; his son Marty Melton; and his siblings, Gracie Mae Stacks, Francis Ann Summers and William "Bill" Melton.

He is survived by : his children, Glenda Levinsky (Jim), Lisa Carr (Ricky) and Kevin Melton (Sandy); and his brother Claude Eugene Melton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
