He was predeceased by: his parents, John Deese and Etta Threatt Simpson; and his grandson Ricky West. He is survived by: his wife Eloise Parker Deese; his children, Jamie Hartsell of Midland and Alan Lane Deese (Ruby) of Stanfield; and his grandchildren, Kiersten Holcomb, Dillion West, Damian Deese, Ryan Deese, Lexi Deese and Saylor Deese. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
