He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul H. Starnes and Sarah G. Barbee Starnes; his son Johnny Starnes; his daughter-in-law Latisha; and his siblings, Frances, Bud, Dorothy, Shirley, Lewis, Howard, Pat and Ronnie.
He is survived by: his wife Lillie Mae Pressley Starnes; his children, Ricky E. Starnes of Stanfield, Dale Starnes (Kathy) of Florida, Clara Watts (Rick) of Pageland and Jackie Carpenter (Tommy) of Stanfield; his siblings, Paul Starnes and Brenda Voncannon; his grandchildren, Kristie Gainey (Steven), Matthew Starnes (Ashley), Rusty Starnes (Ashley), Brittany Leonard, Carey Starnes, Tiffany Arant (Adam) and Johnny Jr. Starnes (Amy); and his great grandchildren, Aiden, Landon, Savannah, Syilar, McCoy, Brayden, Daylon, Kadence, Matilyn, Hanna, Emily, Noah, Matthew and Michael. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as many extended family.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 6th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Et Coyle Baptist Church Cemetery (12168 Coyle Rd, Stanfield, NC 28163).
