Grady Willis Rhyne Jr. Obituary
Grady Willis Rhyne Jr., 83, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025. Grady was born on October 12, 1941, in Gaston County to the late Grady Willis Rhyne Sr. and Maude Costner Rhyne. He grew up in North Belmont and eventually found Stanley as his forever home where he married Nancy Diane Howe and raised their only daughter. Grady was an active long time member of First Presbyterian Church in Stanley where he wore many hats which would include deacon, elder and missionary. He loved his church and had a servants heart. Grady loved to hunt in his earlier years, you could find him in the woods during deer and dove season. He had a passion for racing as well. He loved Nascar and dirt track racing. He would travel over to Carolina Speedway and watch from the stands, often coming home with a layer of orange from the main events. He was a loyal fan of the Atlanta Braves and Washington Redskins. He cheered them on during the sports seasons.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Nancy, his brother Charles Max Rhyne and sister Judy Watts. Those left to cherish his memories include his daughter Laura Rhyne Edwards (Lee Hass), his grandchildren Rebecca Black Foster and Jessica Rhyne. His great grands were his joy, Nathan Lee Chitwood (USMC), Claira Ann Childers Holland (USN Submariner), husband RJ and Wyatt Foster. HIs siblings include Eleanor Broome, Brenda Kennedy, and Jake Rhyne.
A service honoring Mr. Rhyne will be held Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at 3pm at First Presbyterian Church in Stanley. The receiving of friends will be held immediately after the service.
