He was predeceased by: his parent Jesse Lee Whitley; his son David Lynn Whitley, Jr.; and his sister Kathy Whitley Thigpen. He is survived by: his mother Dorothy Raper Walston; his brothers, Ricky Allen Whitley and Clifton Wayne Whitley; and his niece Charlotte Thigpen. He is also survived by numerous other nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 25th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Evergreen Memorial Park (2800 Nash St NW, Wilson, NC 27896).
