He was predeceased by: his parents, Jeff Lee Hartness and Annie Fink Hartness; his wife Brenda Sue Mahaffey Hartness; and his siblings, Howard Hartness, James Hartness and Dorothy "Dot" Henderson.
He is survived by: his sons, Chad David Hartness and Joel Lee Hartness; and his granddaughters, Aubrey R. Hartness and Kendall D.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 13th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Iredell Memorial Park (2304 Shelton Ave, Statesville, NC 28677).
