It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Weldon McClelland of Statesville, North Carolina, who passed away on June 6, 2025, at the age of 71, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
In the sacred silence of farewell, James is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that his light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of his loved ones. And as his memory is carried forward, may comfort be found in the knowledge that love is eternal, and that James' spirit lives on in the beauty that surrounds us.
He was predeceased by: his mother Faye McClelland Griggs. He is survived by: his sons, Cuabeya L. Woods of Lithonia, GA and Quan McClelland (Falotta) of Stony Point, NC; his sister Deborah L. McClelland of Statesville, NC; and his grandchildren, Azaria N. Woods, Cayden R. Woods, Dylan Clark, Serenity Allison and Patrick McClelland. He is also survived by cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 13th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Rutledge and Bigham Mortuary (603 S Center St, Statesville, NC 28677). A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 13th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
