She was predeceased by : her parents, Thomas William Griffin and Kathleen Bell Griffin; and her husband Phillip Mills. She is survived by : her children, Phil Mills (Janis) of Statesville, Jeri Koontz (Steve) of Statesville, Tracy Dolan (Gene) of Greensboro and Paige McCarter (Keith) of Greensboro; her grandchildren, Justin Mills, Lauren Mills (Adam Tassitino), Andrew Koontz (Sara), Matt Koontz (Sarah Stidham), Cody McCarter and Ryan McCarter; and her great grandchildren, Maddox Koontz and Weston Koontz.

A memorial service was held on Thursday, April 25th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church (815 Davie Ave, Statesville, NC 28677).
