He is survived by: his children, Stephen "Mickey" Hales (Dixie), Stephanie Hales and Connie Hales (Jose); his grandchildren, Jonathan Nunnery, Stephen Hales II, Makenzie Hales, Isabella Montanez-Hales, Gabriel Montanez-Hales and Sophia Montanez-Hales; his siblings, Audrey Horne, Gloria Reynolds (Robert) and John Brent Hales; and his sister-in-law Cecelia Hales. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
