He is survived by: his wife Debbie Carter Slate; his daughters, Jaclyn Smothers and Christy Cox; his grandchildren, Brody Smothers, Carter Smothers and Zachary Cox; and his siblings, Mamie Mabe, Wayne Slate, Virginia Hincher, Roger Slate, Patsy Keaton, Ricky Slate, Rocky Slate and Jeff Slate. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends.
