He was predeceased by: his parents, Jack Spain and Vernell Spain; his sister Brenda Whitford; and his daughter-in-law Lissa Spain. He is survived by: his wife Marie Spain; his sons, Tommy Spain (Pam) and Derek Spain; his brother Bruce Spain (Brenda); his siblings-in-law, Irene Wright and Jimmy Whitford; his grandchildren, Dair Scott (Shane), Devan Spain, Brody Spain, Morgan Spain, Emma Spain and Blake Spain; and his great grandchildren, Molly, Chloe and Landan Spain. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
