He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Cecil Whitt and Peggy Sue Gillespie Whitt; his children, Heidi Bowling (Clint) of Bolivia and Jason Whitt; his grandchildren, Hannah Bowling "Lady Bug", Ellea Bowling "Sweet Pea", Serenity Edwards and Faith Whitt; his great grandchildren, Elsie June and Josie Jane; and his siblings, Diana Hartman, Jane Whitt of Swansboro and Alvin S. Whitt.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the SECU Crystal Coast Hospice House, 100 Big Rock Weigh, Newport, NC 28570.
