He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnie Midgett and Eleanor Dennis Midgett; and his brothers, John, Dennis and James Midgett.

He is survived by: his wife Pat Parkerton Midgett; his children, Denise "Dee Dee" Midgett of Swansboro and Daniel Midgett of Swansboro; his grandchildren, Kristi Gradus and Andrew "Drew" Gradus; and his stepgrandson Nick Gradus.
