With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Michael D. Cooney of Swansboro, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 9, 2025. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Cooney and Liselotte Cooney; and his brother Steve Cooney of Thomasville, NC.. He is survived by: his children, Devin Cooney (Keri Voke) of Raleigh and Megan Boone (Cameron Boone) of Swansboro; his granddaughter Kamryn Boone of Swansboro; his sister Paulette Skeen of Thomasville; his former wife Teri Stock; his niece Mandy Skeen; his nephew Asa Cooney; and his friends, Dave, Ruth Hough, Steve, Cyndy Wilson and Linda Cooney.
In lieu of flowers and in honor of Dr. Michael D. Cooney's career and Mental Health Awareness Month, donations may be made to the PTSD Foundation of America.
