He was predeceased by: his wife Martha; and his siblings, Jerry, Wendall, Louise, Judy, Ida and Delyla.
He is survived by: his siblings, Floyd Proffitt (Linda) of Granite Falls, Charles Proffitt (Nellie) of Weaverville, Gary Proffitt (Susan) of Rogersville, TN, Roger Dale Proffitt of Asheville and Patricia Dills (Tony) of Weaverville; his children, Danny Proffitt (Glenda) of Memphis, TN, Dennis Proffitt (Pat) of Sylva, Debbie Keisler of Wesley Chapel, FL, David Proffitt (Christy) of Sylva and Darrell Proffitt (Julia) of Asheville; and his grandchildren, Anthony Proffitt, Stephanie Kesner (Bobby), Cassie McAbee (Brad), Blake Proffitt (Felicia), Brady Proffitt, Megan Robitaille (Nichlaus), Lindsey Smathers (Josh), Josh Proffitt, Chloe Proffitt and Madison Proffitt. He is also survived by numerous great grandchildren.
