She was predeceased by: her parents, Eugene Monteith and Mae Lee Oliver Monteith; her brothers, Lowell, Morris, James and Jack Monteith; her grandson Jacob Elders; and her son-in-law Bill Rice.
She is survived by: her daughters, Nancy Rice of Sylva and Amy Elders (Danny) of Whittier; her grandsons, Cody Rice of Maggie Valley, Dylan Rice (Lindsey) of Lake Toxaway, Daniel Elders of Cullowhee and Zachary Elders (Aimee) of Denver; and her great grandchildren, Cade Rice of Sylva, Kyndell Rice of Sylva, Chesni Rice of Sylva, Ryleigh Rice of Maggie Valley, Reagan Elders and Brody Elders of Cullowhee. She is also survived by family, and raised her daughters largely as a single parent.
