He was predeceased by: his parents, Marshall Ashe and Vana Ashe. He is survived by: his significant other Lisa Poole; his children, Amy Willis (John) and Andy Ashe (Ashley); his stepson Alan Respress; the mother of his children Pamela Hall Ashe; his siblings, Susan McCoy (Jerry), Randall Ashe (Missie), Gary Ashe (Karen) and Dennis Ashe (Wendy); and his grandchildren, Coco, Harley, Dixie, MaryEllen, Grace and Calvin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Four Seasons Hospice, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
