He was predeceased by: his wife Patsy Mathis; his parents, Charlie Mathis and Nora Lee Mathis; his sister Frankie Seals; his aunt Sadie Henry; his uncle Clyde Henry; and his son-in-law Lt. Ellith K. McFalls.
He is survived by: his children, Carla Robinson (Randy Robinson), Melissa Mathis (Chad Bumgarner) and Chas Mathis (Chimene); his grandchildren, Denise Robinson, Chastity Williams and Colton Mathis; his great grandchild Isaiah "The Dude" Robinson; and his siblings, Bobby Mathis and Sandra Fisher.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be given in memory of Dennie Mathis to: Scotts Creek Baptist Church, PO Box 55, Sylva, NC 28779 or to the Lt. Ellith McFalls Scholarship at Southwestern Community College in Sylva, NC.
