It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gretchen Buchanan Leatherwood of Sylva, North Carolina, born in Jackson, North Carolina, who passed away on November 4, 2023, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Burke Hobert and Gertrude Wooten Buchanan; her husband William Harold Leatherwood Jr.; and her daughter Theda Leatherwood Rudd. She is survived by: her daughter Delena Jay (Graeme) of Seattle, WA; her siblings, Myrtice Brooks (Joe) of Sylva, Audrey La Sante of Fredericksburg, VA, Gordon Buchanan of Waynesville and David Buchanan (Jeanne) of Fredericksburg, VA; her grandchildren, Sadie and Keith Rudd; her in-laws, Gail Revis of Sylva and Karen Ingram (Paul); and also Haig Rudd. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
