He was predeceased by: his parents, Jack Ervin Sr. and Bonnie Gunter; his wife Shirley Cabe Gunter; his brother Jerry Lloyd Gunter; and his nephew Sammy Gunter.
He is survived by: his daughters, Sherri Gunter LeCompte (Len) and Beth Gunter Ledford (Bryan) of Shelby, NC; his grandchildren, Nicholas, Abigail LeCompte, Megan, Molly Rathbone, Garrett and Meredith Ledford; his great grandchildren, Harper Leigh LeCompte and Emmett Alden Gass; his brothers, Ronnie Gunter (Darlene) and Jack Gunter Jr. (Betty) of Brevard, NC; his sister-in-law Jackie Gunter; and his close friend Jean Carr (family: Jennifer Pressley, Hunter, Savannah Gass).
