With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Ora Mae Whitson Barger (Sylva, North Carolina), who passed away on August 9, 2025 at the age of 97. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her siblings, Myrtle Forbes, Gladys Garland, Pearl Honeycutt, Nathan Whitson, Ed Whitson, Bonnie Harrison, Bill Whitson and Beulah Whitson; her husband Ralph; her daughter Mary Catherine Robinson; and her parents, Mary Jane and Taylor Whitson.
She is survived by: her son Norris; her daughter-in-law Jill; her sisters, Martha Gschwind and Edna Crawford; her grandsons, Beau and Brett Meany; and her great grandchild Colton Meany. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations to the American Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated.
