He was predeceased by: his wife Frederika Illyene Cook (Garrett); his parents, Claude Cook and Laura Cook; his siblings, Don, Frank, Joe, Jim and Carolyn; and his son-in-law Steve Strawn.
He is survived by: his grandson Joshua Eric Cook; his children, David Cook (Velvet), Twila Padgett (Eric) and Charlie Cook (Sherrill); his brothers, Doyle Cook and Steve Cook; and his grandchildren, Brittany Campbell, Kassidy Brannon (Chris), Bryce Campbell, Kohl Padgett (Krista), Kyndall Padgett, Lorie Eury (Rodney), Lisa Dales (Chuck), Adam Strawn (Susan), Addison Lawrimore (Baker), Danny Stephens and Jesse Stephens. He is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren, and many were adopted by loving family members and grandchildren.
A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, October 4th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Bridge Park (76 Railroad Ave, Sylva, NC 28779).
