He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Ammons and Nora Claybo Ammons; and his siblings, Wade (Dot), Jimmy (Virginia) and Madge Coggins (Cecil).
He is survived by: his wife Bessie Mathis Ammons; his children, Melanie Rider (Brian) of Candler, NC and Brian Ammons (Glenda) of Sylva; and his granddaughters, Nora Gwen Rider and Marley Elizabeth Rider.
