We are sad to announce that on April 29, 2026, at the age of 90, Ruby Shelley (Tabor City, North Carolina) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Harley James and Helen Winn Singletary Taylor; her husband O'Neal Gordon Shelley; her siblings, Sue Taylor Lay and Henry James Taylor; and her brothers-in-law, Samuel Porcher "Shay" Smith, Jr. and Keith Gordon Lay, Sr..
She is survived by: her children, Jimmy Neal Shelley (Mary Kay) of Cary, NC, Walter Brooks Shelley (Billy Maddalon) of Charlotte, NC and Anna Winn Shelley Beaman (Jack) of Snow Hill, NC; her grandchildren, Shelley Albritton (Thomas), Neal and Kyle Shelley; her sister Peggy Smith of Tabor City; and her caregiver Angela Green. She is also survived by 6 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, May 3rd 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel (300 E 5th St, Tabor City, NC 28463). A funeral service was held on Monday, May 4th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Tabor City Baptist Church (200 Live Oak St, Tabor City, NC 28463). A burial was held on Monday, May 4th 2026 at the Forest Lawn Cemetery.
