He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Hardy and Susie Hardy; his brother Fredrick "Dick"; his sister-in-law Carrie Hardy; his parents-in-law, Ophelia and Noah Baker; and his brother-in-law Teeny Baker.
He is survived by: his family Sophia; his wife Sophia Hardy; his children, Tina Wooten (Allen), Jeannette Davenport (Bill) and Jay Hardy (Sara); his grandchildren, Samantha Grimes (Jay), Tiffany Barber (Cameron), John Chapman III (Jennifer), Brittany Walton (John), Taylor Harris (Josh), Hunter Davenport (Casey), Emily Hardy (Jonathan), Tanner Hardy, Carson Hardy and Jackson Hardy; his great grandchildren, Maddie, Brooklyn, Jameson, Brayden, Pierce, Sophia Grace, Eleanor and John Henry IV; and his sisters-in-law, Carolyn Baker and Lisa Baker (James).
