We are sad to announce that on March 1, 2026, at the age of 83, Jonah Lee Williams of Tarboro, North Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
In the hush of twilight, as the stars twinkle in silent homage, we reflect on the legacy Jonah leaves behind and his impact on the lives of his loved ones. Though Jonah may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the memories held dear by his family and friends, a guiding light that illuminates their paths in times of darkness.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Dorsey Williams and Velma Cleo Perkins Williams. He is survived by: his wife Rev. Mary H. Williams; his children, Jonah J. Williams of Tarboro, NC, Aatrice "Nikki" Gross of Waldorf, MD and Uconda Dunn of Greenville, NC; and his brother Calvin Coppage of Charlotte, NC. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 8th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Hemby-Willoughby Mortuary (1800 Western Blvd, Tarboro, NC 27886). A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 9th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church (3349 Cherry Hill Church Rd, Tarboro, NC 27886).
