With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Mary Louise Hopkins (Tarboro, North Carolina), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on December 11, 2025 at the age of 92. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though her name may fade from the lips of time, the imprint Mary leaves upon the hearts of her loved ones remains eternally vivid — a testament to the depth of her spirit and the richness of her legacy.
She was predeceased by: her parents, George William Johnson, Sr. and Mary Lou Johnson; her husband Larry C. Hopkins; and her brothers, George W. Johnson, Jr., James Elliott Johnson and Tremain Johnson.
She is survived by: her daughter Brenda Ellis Coker (Gene); her grandchildren, Jennifer Joyner (Randy) and Michael Adams (Stacey); her brother Milton Johnson (Dianne); and her sisters-in-law, Pluma Riggs and Catherine Batchelor. She is also survived by six great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 13th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Carlisle Funeral Home (701 Hospital Dr, Tarboro, NC 27886). A burial will be held on Saturday, December 13th 2025 at the Greenwood Cemetery (1000 W Howard Ave, Tarboro, NC 27886).
