He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Marriott and Maude Lassiter Briggs, his wife Brenda Campbell Briggs; his siblings: Elizabeth Briggs Bulluck, Lynn, Carl, Rylan, Allen, Kemp, and Joe Briggs. He is survived by his siblilngs: John Briggs of Enfield, Wood Briggs (Diane) of Nashville, Bob Briggs (Lillian) of Jackson, Margaret Briggs Hayes (Don) of Rocky Mount and Ann Briggs Wrenn (James) of Emporia, VA.; his children, Steven Briggs (Laura) of Pinetops and Amy Malcolm (Chris) of Wilson; his grandchildren, Brandon, Elizabeth Medford (Chris), Patrick, Ryan, Gabrielle Briggs, Connor, Abby, Tristan and Emma Malcolm; and his great grandchildren, Damian, Violet Banks and Dominic Medford.
