She was predeceased by: her parents, Bryce C. Brookshire and Gertrude Elder Brookshire; her husband Larry Barnes; and her brothers, Jerry Brookshire, Larry Brookshire and Leroy Brookshire.

She is survived by: her daughters, Darlene Childers (Larry) of Hiddenite, Elaine Houston (Tommy) of Conover and Denise Marlowe of Taylorsville; and her grandchildren, Shannon Walker (Angie), Kelly Walker (Ashlie), Angie Childers-Guillen, Matt Childers, Jeremy Marlowe and Wesley Marlowe. She is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
